Inspiration

As a lover of arts and crafts I am always on the look out for inspiration.  Other people’s work has always fascinated me.   It doesn’t matter to me what form the artwork comes in, whether it’s a pot or a painting, a sculpture or a little sketch.  I can appreciate the love that has gone into creating the piece.  I find myself dissecting and wondering, how did they make that, how did they get that effect, because of this I find Pinterest to be a great tool.

Finding Pinterest was like finding a little piece of heaven for me.  There, I can view all number of interesting things.  I can find ideas for things to make and do, sewing projects, crochet patterns, well, the list is endless.  Take a look at my craft inspiration board on Pinterest, it’s bursting with ideas.

I also use Pinterest as a tool to improve my art.  I’ve just added a board called ‘colour’.  The colour wheel is used by artist as an aid to enable them to create a colour palate that is aesthetically pleasing.  I’ve always found colour tricky and have often stuck to pencil sketches rather than paints to avoid the whole messy subject.  I am trying to overcome this fear though, and this is why I came up with the colour board.  The idea is, that I’d find pins that contained beautiful combinations of colour and take elements from them into my artwork.  When I finally pick up a paintbrush I’ll post my efforts here.  Why don’t you examine colour this week and show me where your ideas have taken you. Join my facebook group and add your photos there.

A little update; take a look at the watercolours on my blog.  They aren’t the best but they’re a start at overcoming my fear of painting.
